  • The course is open to anyone who meets the legal requirements for firearms safety in Victoria.

    You must be not be a prohibited person.

  • Yes. This course provides the training certificate needed apply for your Victorian gun license (Category A & B longarm license).

  • No previous experience is required. This course is suitable for:

    • beginners

    • experienced shooters

    • people reapplying for a licence

    • people transferring licenses from another state.

  • This course is theory only and does not include live-fire.


    The focus is on helping you understand the law, safe handling, and responsibilities of firearm ownership.
    You will learn about safety rules, storage, and legal requirements for longarms.

  • A Category A & B firearms licence in Victoria allows you to own and use certain longarms such as rifles and shotguns. Examples include:

    Category A

    • Air rifles

    • Rimfire rifles (e.g. .22)

    • Shotguns (double barrel)

    Category B

    • Centrefire rifles (e.g. .223, .308, .30-06)

    This licence does not allow handguns or paintball markers.

    Handguns require a separate licence and additional training through a pistol shooting club.

  • Yes! You will receive a digital safety course certificate once you pass our exams:

    • This will be sent to the same email you used to purchase the course

    • You will need this certificate to apply for your license

    • Certificates expire after 12 months

  • The course is a one-off event from 6pm to 8.30pm.

  • You can book online via our website. Each booking is for one person only. If you want to bring someone else, please email us in advance.

  • Yes. We recommend reading the pre-reading before your course so you understand the basics. You do not need to memorise anything. Your trainer will explain everything during the course.

  • Please bring photo ID (digital licenses from the Service Victoria app are accepted).

    Juniors can bring a school photo ID, passport, or birth certificate.

  • Parking is available in the Thomas Street public car park behind the store, or on Clayton Road. The loading bay spaces directly behind the store are not for public use.

    Enter through the Clayton Road entrance.

  • Only registered participants may attend. If someone else needs to join, please email us before the course to confirm availability.

  • Yes - there are no fees if you notify us more than 4 days before the course.

    Fees apply if you reschedule or cancel less than 4 days before the course:

    • Reschedule: $35

    • Cancel: $55

    There are no refunds if you do not show up to your course.
